With the demise of Woolworths it became increasingly difficult to find party favours that don't cost a fortune. Many mothers seem to aim to outdo each in the party bag stakes and often kids go home with more than they bought the party girl or boy.
The idea of a party bag is to act as a souvenir of the party that they attended and it should not be expensive. The obligatory balloon and slice of birthday cake, and maybe a bag of sweets and a small gift such as glow sticks or a colouring books.
However, the trend is starting to reverse and parents are starting to look for smaller items that are not too expensive, rather than the last few years when the opposite was true. Luckily, there are many sites on the internet which have to a large extent replaced deal old Woollies – in our spending if not in our hearts!
These sites offer cheap – but not tacky – gifts for party bags, enabling the mum to buy them all in one go rather than trekking around the local high street. You can choose by price, age and pick a selection for the kids attending the party.
They are therefore saving hard-pressed parents time and also money, taking away one more worry in the stressful weeks leading up to a birthday party for little one.
